Learning about what's on the bottom of the lake.

We learned how the artifacts from our past ended up at the bottom of the lake. When European's came they brought metals that didn't decompose as quickly as natural materials. Their ships and guns were used for fighting wars. Once the fighting was over what did people use the lake for? People in Grand Isle County produced many apples and wanted to sell them and transport them to places that didn't have apples, like Burlington or even New York City! The lake began to be used as a way to transport farm goods to cities.

Canals were dug to connect Lake Champlain to the Hudson River.
