Poignant Letter from the Afghanistan Soldiers

“This past week has been rough, an aircraft that was supporting one of our missions here in Zabul crashed. The crew, along with a passenger, was killed. The aircrew came from the Aviation Brigade that currently operates on our helicopter landing zone. They flew nonstop in the mountains under harsh conditions in order to MEDVAC the one wounded and to evacuate the six fallen Hero's - never leaving a fallen comrade. I gave the box of brownies to the aircrews in order to cheer them up a little during this difficult time. They were very appreciative and said to say thank you. One of their Apache crews flew the American flag that we are sending you, as a thank you for your support. The flag was also carried on a Romanian patrol and will be flown over our headquarters here in Zabul tomorrow on Christmas Day.”
