Homework Routine

HOMEWORK ROUTINE
Students in third and fourth grade should have between 30 and 40 minutes of homework each night.

Reading is very important at every age, so students are required to read 20 minutes each night from a "just right" book that is on their independent reading level. They record the pages they read on a log that includes the minutes they read as well as the page they started on and ended on. We will use this data to reflect on our reading growth in our journals and also to set goals for how to become avid readers!

Third grade students typically have a math sheet Monday and Tuesday and a Weekly Reader to complete Wednesdays besides the daily 20 minutes of reading.

Writing, Social Studies and Science assignments are intermittent.

We encourage students to be responsible and put their work immediately back in the homework folder. We encourage parents to check over the homework and talk to your child about what they are learning. We also encourage notes from the student or parent if the work was particularly challenging, frustrating, or exciting for your child or for you!!
