Update from Erin Mitchell from the Philippines

We received an email from Erin Mitchell, the woman from Alburgh who was traveling to the Philippines to do volunteer relief work and took our power tools and other things to deliver. She said that she was able to give the power tools to an elementary school in Tacloban, the hardest hit city, and also to a mission station/church. She gave the school $140 in cash which with the exchange came to 6,000 pesos! If you remember, our students wrote penpal letters for her to deliver to students in the Philippines. She has many return letters from the students in Tacloban. Erin will be starting a blog where we will be able to see pictures of the Philippines and she also will be mailing us the penpal letters soon. She will be back in April to give us more details and tell us some heartfelt stories. Here is a quote from Erin, “Please tell the students that I am SO proud of them and that they made all the difference in the world for many kids over here, not just through the contribution of money or the tools, but the thought that people on the other side of the world care about them and that they are not forgotten. You have no idea what a difference you all have made.” David Hodges from Fox News interview us about the 3-4 Team’s efforts to help and communicate with the Philippines regarding current life after Typhoon Yolanda. Everyone did an excellent job during their interviews as well as being respectful audience members. Our story was on Fox 88/ abc 22 News Friday, April 11th.
